Frozen II

Frozen 2 was great…if you’re a kid who doesn’t know about overused movie tropes. It’s not to say I hated it, it was just a little overdone. Not in all aspects, of course. I did like that this story was more about discovering the past and that it had an overlying theme of change. And I LOVED the new music. Idina Menzel’s singing voice was on point, as always, and Kristen Bell was also great in her solos. And you can’t forget about the iconic Lost In the Woods, sung by Jonathan Groff. Frozen II will never top its predecessor, but as the 5th grader who loved (and still loves) Frozen, I still enjoyed this sequel.

logline: All is well in the kingdom of Arendelle - until its queen, Elsa, begins to hear a strange call from a mysterious spirit. To find the spirit’s origin, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf travel to a mysterious forest, cloaked in fog, on an adventure of discovering the past, and exploring the future.

My favorite characters:

  • Idina Menzel as Elsa - her voice! is! incredible! it always amazes me how great her voice is. i loved her character arc in this movie, and how the movie really focused more on her, as opposed to the original Frozen, which focused on her AND anna. also, elsa’s dresses were so freaking pretty, i loved all of them and wanted to steal them even though they were technically not real.

This movie is rated PG. Here’s why:

  • Action and Peril

  • Some Thematic Elements

Something I liked: A N I M A T I O N. it was f*cking AMAZING. blew my head right off. ask my friends, i cried in the theater. not at the emotional parts like a normal person, but because the aesthetic was so incredibly beautiful. my favorite example would have to be during the song Show Yourself. i’ve watched the music video tooooooo many times.

Where to Watch:

  • Disney+

  • Apple, YouTube, Google Play Store, Vudu, and Amazon Prime for rent or purchase
