I have a feeling that when Solar Opposites was announced, everyone’s first thought was, “oh nice, they made a spinoff of Rick and Morty. I love that show.” we didn’t really give it the chance to stand on its own, as if it was a totally unrelated series. I, myself, am very very guilty of this. Going into the show, I thought, “If Rick doesn’t show up with his beloved portal gun and say one of his many catchphrases (preferably ‘AIDS!’). then what’s the point of this show?” However, Solar Opposites was a lot more than just a spinoff. It had great writing that made for (kind of) a linear storyline. I say kind of because really, the only constants were Korvo trying to fix the ship and The Wall. I thought that all of the actors were great in their roles, and I loved watching Jesse’s and Yumulack’s (and occasionally the Pupa’s) adventures. Although, every damn time Korvo opened his mouth all I could hear was Rick. That does kind of throw you off a little. If you give Solar Opposites a try, which I would highly recommend, make sure you go into it not thinking about how it will stack up to Rick and Morty.
My Favorite Character:
Thomas Middleditch as Terry - as relatable as an alien could possibly be. he’s just trying to chill out and live his life! and make plugs for Hulu and their products. even though he is very very lazy, he is still a very sweet guy and someone that you would love to have as a best friend.
This show is rated TV-MA. Here’s why
Sexual Content and Nudity
Extreme Violence and Gore
Severe Language

Something I liked: The entire “The Wall” storyline. For those of you who haven’t seen Solar Opposites, Yumulack and Jesse, the two little alien children, have a habitat in their wall that is reserved for humans that they’ve shrunken down and trapped in there. There’s a whole “topple the dictator” plotline that a few episodes are reserved for, and those episodes were definitely some of my favorites. Honestly, they could probably make a whole spin-off show for just “The Wall” and I would 100% watch it.
