Knives Out

This movie is the perfect satire of every murder mystery movie I’ve seen. I love the dysfunctional family, Blanc’s stupid southern accent, and the vomit lie detector. This movie is perfect for if you want a murder mystery, but also want to laugh. Every single one of the family members are hilarious in their own way, and the funny moments in this movie never get old. Daniel Craig’s detective character is almost a parody of his better known James Bond, and he pulls it off so well. Another great thing about Knives Out is the actual story. It’s got great twists, and all the of characteristics of a classic murder mystery. I loved following Benoit Blanc as he and Marta found clues and made guesses on what actually happened to Harlen. It kinda reminded me of a Clue game, where you gather all the information and then make a final assumption. Overall, Knives Out was a really fun watch, and an instant favorite for me.

logline: When famed author Harlen Thrombey is found with a slit throat the day after his birthday, Detective Benoit Blanc is on the case. With the only possible suspects being Thrombey’s own family, and the amount of evidence low, everything points to a suicide. But something’s off, and along with Harlen’s nurse, Marta, Blanc tries to unravel the mystery piece by piece.

My favorite characters:

  • Chris Evans as Ransom Drysdale - i’ve never seen chris evans in a role like this, but i love it. it’s so different from captain america, and it’s cool to see him branch out cause i’m so used to seeing him as cap. ransom is a sassy boy who likes swear words and cable knit sweaters.

  • Ana de Armas as Marta Cabrera - probably the most adorable movie character to exist ever. she’s SO freaking cute! besides that, she’s kind of a bada*s. despite her character being the kind of person that hides from the action, she’s the centerpiece of the movie and i think it’s a nice change.

This movie is rated PG-13. Here’s why:

  • Brief Violence

  • Sexual References

  • Drug Use

  • Language

Something I liked: CHRIS EVANS IN THAT SWEATER. Also the fact that the Knives Out Twitter account renamed itself into the “Chris Evans Sweater Stan Account”.

Where to Watch:

  • Apple, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, and Google Play Store for rent or purchase
