The Bourne Supremacy

The Bourne Supremacy is the second installment of the Bourne film series in which

Matt Damon returns as the titular character

. I’ve said before that I’m not a huge fan of super action-packed movies, but Supremacy is different from the textbook action movie. It’s gritty and less dramatic, devoid of the regular save-the-world-get-the-girl-shoot-a-gun plots that are all kind of the same, no matter if you change the stakes at hand. Jason Bourne is actually cool, and not because he runs from explosions or takes down five guys at once. Yes, he can do all of that, but his mind and reasoning are crazy, and it’s extremely exciting to watch him plan an attack, or slip past all of the CIA and leave them scrambling at his feet. The guy seems superhuman, and he can fight with literally anything on hand, which is a fresh breath from all of the gunfights that movies seem to prefer these days. I spent most of the movie crazily giggling at the screen as my thoughts went from: “wait, how is he gonna do that?” to: “no way he’s gonna make it”, and lastly:  “...I don’t know why I even doubted him.” Outside of the action, the settings are also a great choice, and the movie will have you wanting to plan your next vacation as you watch Bourne fight his way around the world. The Bourne Supremacy is a thrilling movie that stands up to the first installment, and is the perfect choice for when you feel like watching one guy run circles around the law.

logline: When Jason Bourne is framed for a CIA operation gone awry, he is forced to resume his former life as a trained assassin to survive.

Fun Fact: Matt Damon spent thousands of hours in gun training in order to look comfortable with one on-screen. Dedication!

I still prefer the fist fights, but y’know.

My Favorite Scene:

I thought it a bit redundant to do a favorite character, I mean, the only viable option is Bourne. But a favorite scene? That I can do. I call it the newspaper scene, in which Bourne and this other guy fight, and he takes him down using a rolled up newspaper. That whole fight scene was so exciting to watch, the frantic cuts and quick shots adding to the fast-paced thrill of it. Definitely my favorite fight scene in the trilogy :).

Rated PG-13 for violence, intense action, and brief language.
